About Marjorie Hoelker
My Experience & Education
I have extensive experience working with individual adults, couples, and families, and have been in practice for over 20 years. I have taught at the graduate school level, and have managed and owned my own practice for over two decades. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, sleep difficulties, depressive symptoms, challenges adjusting to life transitions, relationship concerns, grief, and those who simply want to make positive changes in their lives.
With couples, I incorporate the Gottman Method, one of the most extensively researched and widely recognized approaches to couples therapy. The Gottman Method provides practical, evidence-informed strategies for improving communication, managing conflict, strengthening friendship and intimacy, and building a more satisfying relationship.

My Style & Approach
I believe therapy works best when it is a collaborative process. I work alongside my clients as a coach and collaborator—helping them clarify what they want from therapy, establish meaningful goals, and learn how to use therapy as effectively as possible. My ultimate goal is to ensure that you become independent and no longer need me!
I meet clients where they are while also gently challenging them to move toward the changes they want to make. My approach is practical, supportive, and active. I help clients translate insight into action by developing effective communication skills, navigating conflict more productively, recognizing thought patterns that may contribute to emotional difficulties, and identifying behavioral changes that can support greater motivation and well-being. I approach this work with humility, warmth, and, when appropriate, humor.
Whether I am working with an individual, couple, or family, my goal is to create a relationship in which clients feel safe, understood, and actively involved in the therapeutic process. I want clients to leave therapy not only with greater insight, but with practical tools, increased confidence, and the motivation to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives and relationships.
